// who & why

Hello. I go by cleave online — a word that means both to split apart and to cling together, which felt right.

This site exists because I needed somewhere that wasn't a platform, wasn't optimised for engagement, wasn't asking me to compress a thought into something consumable. Just a place to be, in the older internet sense of the word.

I'm interested in the strange gravity of fictional characters, the aesthetic residue left by places and texts, the way certain ideas become obsessions before you notice. I write about these things when the language arrives.

Dark academia as a mode of living, not just a palette. The feeling of a library after closing. Pages that smell like they've been read before.

This site was built by hand with plain HTML and CSS, hosted on Neocities. No tracking, no scripts I didn't write, no algorithmic undercurrent pulling at your attention.

If you'd like to reach me, there's a contact link in the sidebar. I do respond, slowly.
